THE AUSTRIAN POST IN ROME

The story of a post office in Rome, first Veneto, then Milanese and at the end Austrian depending on the different events from the Medieval times to the first decades of the XIX century, is really fascinating thanks to its diplomatic and historical-political implications. Many scholars have studied the subject from different points of view: legal, diplomatic, historical-political, postal; also the postmarks used in the short period from 1802 to 1809 have been analysed.

In this work the author has collected all the material known, with the addition of some documents which are really difficult to find and some from the State Archives in Milan.

ITALY IN EAST AFRICA
HISTORY, MAIL, PHILATELY
Volume I

The text, conceived in two separate volumes, represents a complete work about the Italian presence in East Africa from the point of view of post and of philately.

The first volume is about pre-imperial Italian East Africa and the second one is about the Italian Empire. Nevertheless, in order to facilitate readers, the chapters of Volume I concerning Eritrea and Somalia are developed up to 1941, above all as long as the card-indexing of the offices and their postmarks is concerned.

The study is realised with the maximum historical and documentary rigour; all the information are in fact the result of official and controlled sources. It is useful both to postal history researchers and to collectors, with pages about the organization and the method of services, as well as complete and clearly organized tables of all the post and telegraph offices; for each one of these, all the known postmarks are reproduced. Moreover, the work is accompanied by a rich iconographical background (postal documents, maps, views, people) with images realised with care and reproduced in the original format. The rich quantity of material of every office, that proposes letters and other postal documents left from or arrived there, besides the images of the places and of the environments, represents a quality of the work.

Every volume starts with a historical-descriptive part, followed by the lists of offices and postmarks, divided into chapters like the historical-descriptive part, and placed, in every chapter, in alphabetical order. Every postmark is numbered. Together with the second volume, a catalogue with point valuation is present.

CATALOGUE OF ITALIAN SPECIAL POSTMARKS 1961-1962

Series of studies about postmarks n.12 of A.N.C.A.I. (the Italian national association for collectors of Italian postmarks).

This volume about the years 1961-62 ends the cataloguing of the Italian special postmarks, endeavour that has committed ANCAI for over forty years.
The period up to the beginning of '60ies takes on a great interest and charm, both for the demonstrations it refers to and because the separate services at those times were out-and-out postal offices, as a consequence the material worked is very peculiar.
The author has prepared the present work in spite of the evident difficulties: you only have to remember that press releases of temporary services did not exist at those times and that the complete destruction of the archives makes any research by the Offices of Italian Post impossible. This volume has come full circle, allowing ANCAI to get the credit for the complete treatise of the special postmarks of the whole Italian Postal History.

CATALOGUE OF POSTMARKS
II edition

Second edition of the catalogue that refers to the monumental 2014-2016 work on AOI history, mail and philately, still complete. The volume of evaluations is updated: in the first edition there were only the office names, making immediate reference to the two volumes for their chronology, in this second one instead their chronology is included. To follow, the known postmarks with their evaluations.

The postmarks are always inserted with the same criterion: first the oval ones used as cancellers in the first days of the offices, then the round, the line and the other types; last the Residences postmarks.
On the other hand, the oval marks of exemption from postal taxes of the State administrations are not taken into consideration: in fact, they are supplied to them, not to post offices.
The graphics were also catalogued and reproduced "from life", with the postage stamp portion that they cancelled. The graphics in the recommendation labels have also been reproduced.

Evaluations are expressed in points. Two scales of points are proposed: one applicable only to classical Eritrea and the 1895-1896 campaign, the other to all the rest. Two chapters dedicated to Eritrea: first and second period. For convenience, the office chronology is all in the second period.
Only the stamps used as cancellers are quoted; accessory stamps are only listed.

Also available in the LUXURY version.

DIRECTORY OF AGENCIES AND P.T. DELIVERIES

Postal deliveries, classified as Agencies until 1952, or rather the offices in certain locations given with a license to private individuals upon their request, have always constituted an intriguing chapter in postal history and in particular in marcophilia.

The work is structured by regions in geographical order (from North to South and from West to East), starting with the regional capital city and then moving on to the other provinces in alphabetical order.
Each chapter opens with a list of known services, a table listing the various salient dates of its history. In addition to postal / administrative data and to reproductions of the various postmarks of each office, it includes a historical description of the licensed office (institution, company or hotel), with extensive iconographic documentation.

The work is completed by summary indexes and tables: agencies not considered; agencies in geographical, alphabetical order, by opening date, by type of licensed office.

For marcophiles the attraction of their postmarks is undoubted, both because they are largely difficult to find, and because, although they are ordinary marks, they have in themselves a character of specialty and "out of order", but the volume is interesting and pleasant even outside the philatelic world, as it represents a mirror of almost a century of Italian life, in its economic, political and customs aspects.

LIBYA
History, Post, Philately - vol.1

The work, which for the authors closes a truly broad human and research path, intends to systematize knowledge, propose it in a modern way and create a work that intends to be definitive, at least for many years: the framework that is proposed is well defined. in all its main lines and its interpretative aspects.

Historical text followed by the catalogue of the offices, with their postage stamps and examples of use and the catalogue with the summary and evaluations of the registered stamps.
The main novelty of this volume is the breadth of the context: it is not considered a subject limited in time, but a wide Mediterranean region, which has had various political (and therefore postal) regimes, from the beginning until almost contemporaneity. A broad overview of synthesis that has its roots in classical antiquity and reaches up to the last, difficult years of today's Libya.
