The author analysed all the gazettes of the Italian Post from 1927, first year of introduction of automatic franking machines, to the end of the Kingdom of Italy, 1943. His work catalogues and reproduces more than 3700 machine franking impressions and 1500 varieties, accompanied by a short description. They are given in alphabetical order by area and then in chronological order.
