FUTURIST POSTAL ART

In 1986, «Postal Futurisms» was organized, a traveling exhibition, accompanied by a substantial catalogue divided into three sections: thematic, biographical and typological, subtitled «Balla, Depero and futurist postal communication», edited by Maurizio Scudiero together with Enrico Sturani (who dealt with "the other Futurism").

This new study deals with the exquisitely futurist part and, over the course of the time that has passed, the knowledge and discoveries of unpublished material have been so many as to partially redefine the representative weight of the individual artists.

With an iconographic apparatus of 820 postcard images, you will have a precise sensation of how Futurist postal experimentalism was anything but an episodic fact, or linked to individual artists, but rather an aesthetic practice tout-court, and if we want to put it all of it, the true "originating act" of what we now call Mail Art.
